Broward Sheriff’s Deputy Shannon Bennett
Please help honor the memory of Deputy Shannon Bennett, the first member of the Broward Sheriff’s Office to succumb to COVID-19. This victim’s fund has been established to help future families whose loved ones become victims of this dreaded virus.
Seminole Tribe of Florida Fire Chief Donald DiPetrillo
DiPetrillo, who was 70, passed away on April 30th after his fight with COVID-19. He had been Fire Chief since 2008 and a fire fighter for nearly 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Reserves and is survived by his mother, one son, two brothers and a girlfriend.
Lauderhill Police Sergeant Corey Pendergrass
Corey Pendergrass was taken from us on July 26, 2020. Not only was Corey a great person, a community leader, a friend and officer; he was an incredible Husband and Father. The Lauderhill Police Department will honor Corey’s life and legacy in the near future with a celebration of Life Ceremony, thanking him for his 23 years of dedicated service to the law enforcement profession.
Broward Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Aldemar “Al” Rengifo
Rengifo, who attended Western High in Davie, joined the Broward Sheriff’s Office in 2000. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2019 and was most recently assigned to the Youth and Neighborhood Services Bureau, overseeing the School Resource Office Unit. He is survived by his wife and son.

Broward Sheriff’s Communications Operator Nikima Thompson
Thompson was a communications operator for the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) and worked for nearly 17 years taking emergency calls at the North Region Communications Center in Coconut Creek. The Florida native leaves behind three sons and a daughter, her youngest, who is only 14.
